There seems to be a rift growing between Rihanna and her former mentor Jay Z. And yesterday, Rihanna fired the first public shot at the billionaire executive – ever.
Rihanna is quoted as calling Jay a “sellout” in a recent interview by Vogue magazine. She also suggests that Beyonce’s husband is “enabling” the NFLs racism.
The beautiful Bajan singer and philanthropist spoke extensively with Vogue about a number of issues. Eventually, they turned to the issue of last year’s NFL boycott – and whether she wanted to perform at the Super Bowl while the league continued their ban on Colin Kaepernick.
The beauty told the mag, “I couldn’t dare do that. For what? Who gains? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout. An enabler. There’s things within that organization I don’t agree with and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.”
Jay Z recently signed a deal to help the NFL get acts for the Super Bowl Halftime show. This year, Jay delivered his longtime friend Jennifer Lopez, to perform at the 2019-20 Super Bowl.
So Rihanna’s use of “sellout” and “enabler” seem to be aimed at Jay Z – and his recent deal.
Rihanna – who is a partner in Tidal – has also been distancing herself with Jay Z’s streaming service also.
Word on the curb is that she’s working on a massive deal with Spotify, which will be announced before the end of the year. The two have been hinting at their new partnership on social media.
