LITHONIA, Ga. – A 17-year-old has been charged with murder in the death of a 16-year-old girl, found shot in her bedroom Monday night.
Officers responded to the home around 7 p.m. Monday in the 5200 block of Great Meadows Road in Lithonia, Georgia.
According to DeKalb County Police spokesperson Shiera Campbell, the teen, Jewell Jefferson, had been in the room with someone that she knew. That person, a 17-year-old male, fled the scene.
Around 3:15 p.m., police confirmed the suspect, Carl Moore, turned himself and is in custody at DeKalb Police headquarters. He was charged with malice murder.
